Aluminight Custom Outdoor Lighting vs Contempo Stone Design: what to consider for landscape lighting installation Chicago suburbs

If you’re researching landscape lighting installation Chicago suburbs, homeowners often compare companies based on design approach, the types of fixtures and systems offered, how projects are quoted, and whether ongoing maintenance is available. Below is a neutral, informational look at Aluminight Custom Outdoor Lighting and Contempo Stone Design, using only details found in the publicly available information provided.

Company focus and project “fit”

Aluminight Custom Outdoor Lighting positions itself around enhancing architectural beauty and landscape features through expert lighting design, and its website also highlights permanent holiday lighting and outdoor audio systems.

Contempo Stone Design describes itself as a local landscaping company that designs and installs LED landscape lighting systems. Based on publicly available information on their website, they also offer a range of landscaping and hardscaping-related services (such as paver patios, retaining walls, and outdoor kitchens) in addition to lighting.

For homeowners, this can translate into a practical difference: some prefer a firm that centers its messaging on lighting systems and ambiance, while others like working with a landscaping company that also provides lighting.

Service area considerations in the Chicago suburbs

Both companies indicate they serve the greater Chicago suburbs. Aluminight states it serves Mokena and the Chicago suburbs. Contempo Stone Design lists specific towns on its lighting page (including Burr Ridge, Darien, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Homer Glen, Lemont, Oak Brook, Orland Park, Western Springs, and Willowbrook) and also mentions Northwest Indiana in its “About” section.

If your property is near the edges of either service footprint, it’s reasonable to confirm scheduling and travel availability during the initial call.

Lighting services and system options

When comparing landscape lighting installation Chicago suburbs providers, homeowners often look for the mix of lighting techniques (path lighting, uplighting, downlighting, deck lighting, and security lighting), plus whether a company supports repairs and upgrades over time.

• Aluminight lists custom landscape lighting design, installation (front & backyard), maintenance and repairs, and multiple system styles such as low voltage lighting, color-changing/RGB lighting, tree uplighting, soffit down lighting, curb appeal lighting, and deck/patio lighting.
• Contempo Stone Design lists LED landscape lighting along with driveway lighting, garden lighting, pool deck lighting, deck and patio lighting, upgrading existing lighting to LED, garden spotlights, and outdoor security lighting.

Both sets of offerings can align well with common goals like aesthetics, pathway visibility, and illuminating key landscape or architectural features—what varies is how each company presents its specialties and related services.

Design process: how the plan is developed

Design process is one of the biggest “difference makers” in outdoor lighting outcomes—especially for homeowners who want a cohesive look rather than a few bright spots.

• Aluminight emphasizes a custom design approach on its website, but a step-by-step design methodology is not specified on the homepage content provided.
• Contempo Stone Design details a seven-step design process on its landscape lighting page, including identifying goals, surveying the site, choosing fixtures, determining placement/orientation, selecting lighting levels and color temperature, testing, and then installation/maintenance.

If you’re comparing proposals, you can ask each company how they handle beam angles, glare control, fixture placement, and how they test and refine the look at night.

Controls, automation, and audio (if you want an “experience” backyard)

Some homeowners prioritize simple on/off scheduling, while others want app control, zones, scenes, and integrated entertainment.

• Aluminight highlights smart/app-controlled lighting and describes outdoor audio systems built with Coastal Source components. Their website also notes integration options with Control4, Sonos, Josh.ai, or Coastal Source Plug+Play wireless.
• Contempo Stone Design mentions selecting a control system as part of its design process, but specific control platforms or brands are not specified on their website.

If lighting control and backyard audio are part of your plan, this is an area to clarify early so the system is designed around zones, usage patterns, and expansion options.

Pricing and budgeting transparency

Budget is a common deciding factor for landscape lighting installation in the Chicago suburbs, especially when comparing a basic patio setup versus a larger property with multiple lighting types.

• Contempo Stone Design publishes ballpark pricing ranges on its lighting page, from $3,500–$6,500 for basic landscape lighting up to $12,000–$30,000+ for complex projects, while noting actual costs vary by property and scope.
• Aluminight does not list pricing on the homepage content provided (not specified on their website in the provided information).

If you’re collecting bids, it can help to share the same goals with each company (areas to illuminate, preferred fixture styles, and desired control features) so proposals are easier to compare.

Maintenance, repairs, and long-term ownership

Outdoor lighting systems can require occasional adjustment, cleaning, or component replacement over time. From the information provided:

• Aluminight lists system maintenance and landscape lighting repairs as a service.
• Contempo Stone Design includes “install and maintain” in its process description and mentions typical upkeep tasks, but a specific maintenance program is not specified on their website.

A helpful question to ask either company: “If something stops working, what does troubleshooting and repair typically look like?”
